When were you most grateful?

Following D and others, I decided it might be nice to do the examen-looking-back-over-the-year thing (I'm not a fan of "naval-gazing"... a combination of belly buttons and oranges goes through my head. There is just something about that word.)

Agreeing with D, there are so many moments of gratefulness it's hard to pick just one. But, in this time of final papers and exams and end-of-the-semester/year craziness I can't help but think of rest. I am grateful for my vacation.

In the middle of the summer I took a week off and flew to Berkeley, California to visit N. In the midst of an emotionally challenging and time consuming (yet wonderful!) summer internship a week of rest was much needed. I think it is the first real vacation I've taken in awhile. I'm not good at taking rest, sabbath, etc. I didn't work on any much work, I took time to enjoy a new setting and the people person around me, I had fun, and some good old-fashioned down time.

I am so grateful for the luxury of a vacation.

(hmmm....maybe I can make this into some sort of photo blog, too!)
